Unspecialist Manifesto
The world doesn’t actually care what you become.
It cares whether you are easy to use.
One career.
One skill.
One identity.
Specialize. Stay focused. Don’t drift.
That advice builds great careers.
But some of us refuse that.
We get curious.
We find the connections others miss.
We can't stop connecting dots.
We follow curiosity past the point where it makes sense.
We go deep, then leave, then return with something new.
Not scattered.
Layered.
And that changes everything.
Real problems rarely belong to a single field.
Technology touches art.
Art shapes ideas.
Ideas turn into systems.
Systems become products.
Products need to communicate.
When you can move between disciplines, you can ask better questions to solve greater problems.
A generalist knows a little about many things.
An Unspecialist has gone deep in more than one.
That becomes an advantage.
Not because you know everything.
But because you can combine what you know.
You become non-fungible.
Not a role. Not a title.
What this isn't.
No guru advice.
No get-rich-quick thinking.
No pretending to have everything figured out.
Just honest work and curiosity.
